The agony of choice
Three different selection committees are responsible for choosing the showcases in the fields of performing arts, music and street theatre.
Each selection committee is composed of several experts. The composition of the panels changes each year to ensure that all applicants have an equal chance every year. The panels of experts generally meet in Freiburg shortly after the deadline for applications to select the showcase programme for the forthcoming culture exchange. Only those applications that have been submitted are eligible for consideration. This is where the IKF differs from a curated festival. Depending on the applications submitted, a particular genre may be represented more or less strongly.
