«Neutralisiert» «Wie verstehen Sie die Dolmetscherin?»

The performative self-portrait is an inner journey - a merciless confrontation with the person behind their work function. Zarina Tadjibaeva is an artist and official interpreter. She translates from Persian and Russian into German for the Swiss judiciary and migration authorities. Her identity is embedded between languages. between cultures.

The production is an examination of her ‘neutral’ position with the authorities: What does it mean to be a neutral voice? What daily challenges does an interpreter face and how do they affect the person behind this function in the long term? After more than twenty years as an interpreter, she exposes herself to her own ‘hearing’ in the new production.
